Hornby Hobbies has launched a special competition to mark the leap year, inviting lovers to ‘take a leap’ and propose this Valentine’s Day. Ideal for transport-fantatics, racers, engineers, modellers, collectors or those for whom trains, planes or cars have a special meaning in their relationship, this money can’t buy experience will offer the opportunity to create the ultimate proposal.
One lucky couple will have exclusive use of The WonderWorks on Valentine’s Day, along with help from the expert Masters of Miniature, to help them make the ultimate romantic gesture using the iconic products and setups available.
Whether it’s a ring arriving on a model train, a ‘treasure hunt’ using personalised clues, a modelling challenge that spells out the big question, or another setup that might have a special meaning to the couple*, Hornby Hobbies will be on hand to help create the most magical experience.
Not only that, but the couple will receive professional photography and videography of the proposal, a personalised Corgi Car to commemorate the special date, and £150 in WonderWorks gift vouchers to spend in-store on Hornby Hobbies’ iconic brands, Airfix, Corgi, Hornby, Scalextric and Pocher.
To be in with a chance of winning, entrants must send a short explanation (max. 150 words) of why they should win the prize to wonderworksmargate@hornby.com with ‘Marry Me’ in the subject line. Hornby Hobbies’ team of experts will evaluate the entries and choose the most deserving winner by Wednesday 31st January.

- Entrants must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of entry.
- 1 entry per person.
- Entries are limited to 150 words. No photos or videos to be submitted with entry. No purchase required.
- Competition entries to be received by Monday 29th January 23:59.
- Winner to be contacted by Hornby Hobbies by Wednesday 31st January.
- Proposal should take place either 14th or 29th February 2024.
- No prize substitutions are permitted.
- £150 gift voucher can be redeemed in store at The WonderWorks only.
- Video and photographs will be emailed to the winner no longer than 5 working days following proposal date.
