WonderWorks Group Build starts today until 5th July.
Join our WonderWorks group build which will be Battle of Britain themed all you need to do is:
Step 1: purchase an Airfix Battle of Britain kit in a scale of your choice
Step 2: submit your entry to wonderworksmargate@hornby.com with a picture of the kit your going to build.
Step 3: happy modelling!! keep us updated on your progress by #wwgb2025
Step 4: submit your completed model by 11pm Saturday 5th July 2025 to wonderworksmargate@hornby.com
Once all models have been submitted they will be shortlisted 1st /2nd/ 3rd and judged by Head of Airfix Dale Luckhurst!
Top 3 will win the below and models on display in WonderWorks until end of October 2025
1st prize: A17002 1:24 scale Supermarine Spitfire Kit & £100 Wonderworks vouchers
2nd Prize: A09191 1:48 scale Avro Anson Kit & £50 Wonderworks vouchers
3rd prize: A05120C 1:48 scale Messerschmitt kit & £30 voucher
***THEME***- Any aircraft flown by any air force the duration of the Battle of Britain (July-October 1940). Participants can build any model, in any scale, representing aircraft from either side during the battle. Please note ALL kits must be part of the AIRFIX brand, whether these be past or present range items.
***DURATION***- This group build will last from Saturday 18th January 2025, and conclude at 23:00 on Saturday 5th July 2025.
***ENTRY REQUIREMENTS***- Each participant must announce their entry by posting a photo of their kit and use the hashtag #wwgb2025. Please include the model kit details, a description of the vehicle being built, and any aftermarket accessories being included in the build. Please note, all kits being used in this build must come from the Airfix brand.
***ELIGIBILITY***- This group build will be open to all modellers of any age or skill level. All kits to be built will be kits from the Airfix brand. They can be kits within the current range, or an older Airfix kit from your stash.
***PROGRESS POSTS***- If you would like to keep your fellow builders up-to-date with your progress, then please use the hashtag #wwgb2025, and tag the Wonderworks Margate page for all to see. We encourage detailed descriptions of your work and processes so that everyone can possibly learn new ideas from one another.
***COMPLETION***-Once participants have completed their build, they must reveal final photos of their builds before the deadline, using the hashtag #wwgb2025. Final photos must be sent over to us here for judging. There will need to be 8 final photos submitted, these being: front, back, left side, right side, top, bottom, close up and a wide-angle photo to allow for fair judgement of the work. Please send these photos to wonderworksmargate@hornby.com. All entries will then be shortlisted, with the final 10 being judged by Dale Luckhurst, head of Airfix, who will pick the first, second and third place winners. Any shortlisted builds will have the potential to be displayed within the WonderWorks until the end of October 2025, as part of our commemorative displays planned within the site.
